Renowned for both soloistic flair and sensitive ensemble playing, violinist Hyojin Kim brings refined technique and a warm, expressive tone to stages around the world. She has appeared at prestigious venues worldwide, including the Musikverein Golden Hall, Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Tonhalle Zürich, Herkulessaal, and Smetana Hall.
Her international career began at age 13 with a performance alongside the Moravian Philharmonic at Smetana Hall in Prague. In 2018, she garnered significant attention in a sold-out concert with the Münchner Kammerphilharmonie at Munich's Herkulessaal. Recent highlights include performances with the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie at Tonhalle Zürich, her debut at Vienna's Musikverein Golden Hall with the Savaria Symphony Orchestra, an appearance at the Thessaloniki Chamber Festival in Greece, a performance with the Szolnok Symphony Orchestra at Schönbrunn Palace by invitation of the University of Vienna, and debuts in Baku, Madrid, and Almería.
Kim earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees from The Juilliard School under Hyo Kang through the Accelerated BM/MM program in 2023. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Graduate Center, City University of New York. Her awards include top prizes in the Eumak-Chunchu Competition, Sunjung Competition, Korea Herald Competition, Yewon Competition, and Seoul Chamber Music Competition, as well as the Lee Dae Woong Scholarship and Music For Humanity Scholarship with career grant.
An avid chamber musician, Kim has performed with Sejong Soloists, where she has collaborated with Gil Shaham, Frank Huang, David Chan, Joyce DiDonato, Lera Auerbach, Ian Bostridge, and others, as well as with the New Juilliard Ensemble at venues including Zankel Hall, Lincoln Center's Bruno Walter Auditorium, and in Juilliard faculty recitals featuring contemporary music premieres. She was invited to and has participated in the St. Lawrence String Quartet Seminar, Vivace International Festival, and Budapest International Festival, further enriching her chamber music experience. Her chamber music mentors include Emanuel Ax, Julian Martin, and members of the Juilliard String Quartet, Areta Zhulla and Astrid Schween.
